Bobby's Post 2

We are half way through our semester and it is now time for our midterm. In EME 2040 Introduction to Computers in Education we are required to write a three to seven page essay about our learning experiences and challenges throughout the semester. The professor wants to know what we have learned, what challenges did we face, what surprised us in the course, what would we do differently, what is the role of technology in becoming a teacher, and what are we taking away from this course. As a future teacher I understand how important it is to know how you are affecting the lives of your students from what you are teaching. This assignment will be a good way for our professor to get some feedback on how he is affecting our lives through his teaching.

This is my midterm assignment for the EME 2040, to read more about this clich HERE.

Hi, Bobby.
I looked over your reflections on technology. Interesting. Teachers are so eager to use more and more technology in their rooms and let me tell you the biggest issue I face.

We don't have any technology in my school. Yes, it is true. I have a computer at my desk. It doesn't work sometimes... well, many times. I have an overhead projector for transparencies. I have a television with a DVD and VCR that I purchased. Yes. I would love a Smart Board and projector (oh, yes, we have a projector here and there we can sign out but they are always taken or not working)-- gads, what I could do with essay writing with that turkey. I would love a mini-lab with the capability to record sound files so when kids write essays, I can record my comments into the sound file and they can read their essays with my suggestions privately on the earphones... Yes, merely HAVING the technology is my dream.

Ms. I,
That really stinks that your school is not that equipped, i wish you had the technology that you wanted so you can operate the classroom in the manner you envision it to be. My high school had pretty much the same thing, a computer, overhead project and a vhs player. but that was three years ago so maybe some things have changed since then. when i become a teacher i only require the basic technologies, but the more i teach the more i will probably enjoy the new technologies. i ust hope that my school will be able to acquire them for my classroom. Oh by the way i tried the chinese that you suggested and it was good and not too expensive.
